Michelle Villalobos is the Founder of The Women’s Success Summit, Miami’s largest conference for entrepreneurial women. She graduated summa cum laude from Dartmouth College, holds an MBA in International Business from UM and was voted one of Miami Herald’s Top 20 under 40. Michelle has been a keynote speaker at many prestigious events, such as Office Depot Foundation Women’s Symposium, Inaugural Bacardi Women in Leadership Initiative, Burger King Women’s Leadership Foundation and NAWBO Regional Conference. She has shared the stage with greats such as Jack Canfield, Guy Kawasaki, Sharon Lechter and more. Rey: You know, business is built on relationships. You guys agree? I really, really believe that because I’ve dedicated the last two years of my life to investing more in building the relationships than actually selling the products and services that I offer. And I truly believe through seeing my success over the last 15 years of being in business but really the more that I dove into really not trying to make a sale but more build a connection with someone and that will lead to a sale, I have seen dramatic increase in sales in relationship building and referrals. So what I realized in 10 years of marketing my company, my business has never made a sale for me my logo and my website has not actually ever produced me a sale and I’ve been telling my logo to sell for a long time. Trust me, I’ve tried. In the end of the day I’m the number one salesperson. Now, that doesn’t mean that you can’t have sales teams but in the end of the day it all really comes down from you. You’re the spearhead. So I realized something – why am I focusing time money and effort in building my quote unquote company when I’m really the one that people are buying from? So it doesn’t mean that I got rid of my business. What I did is I started focusing on my marketing efforts on myself and my personal brand and who I am in the world.
